Please email me at wordsfromdaheart@yahoo.com with any submissions. All genres of writing are welcomed, most especially personal essays and poetry. I am also looking for people interested in writing for columns I have already established since many of their former writers have abandoned them. Applicants should e-mail me with their first name or pseudonym , username (the one that you signed up with on this site) and writing samples. If I like your writing, I will publish it in the first issue, and may also use you as a "regular" for the Zine.
Types of writing that will be published
- Poetry: Good poetry should stir up some sort of powerful emotion in the reader. Submissions should be brief, but thoughtprovoking. Imagery, metaphors, similes and descriptions of emotions can all be incorporated.
- Personal essays: These can be about anything, as long as its thoughtful and well-written.
- Book, movie, and music reviews: Submissions should be coherent, well-thought out, and must contain reasons as to why something was good/bad.
- Editorials: This type of writing discusses an individual's opinions on controversial issues.
- Articles on current events or relevant teen issues: These must contain strictly fact, and should not refer to any opinions or biases of the writer.
Columnist positions available -
- Advice column: This is in question and answer format. Readers ask questions; columnist gives concise, coherent advice. Volunteers must be available to check the site every three days for new posts.
- Fashion column: Writer must provide images (clipart) and writing to explain the latest trends. Pictures are almost as important as the writing itself. This section will be updated bimonthly, and requires less of a commitment than most.
- Sports column: This column will contain brief sports updates including statistics and, if possible, some game coverage. ex. "There were only three minutes left. The pressure was on." This should be updated weekly
- Celebrity News Column: This writer must give readers indepth coverage on the latest scandals and gossip in Hollywood.
Name suggestions for this magazine are also welcome, because this one happens to be rather unoriginal. I hope to hear from all of you soon.
