CHAPTER 21
Months had passed since Stuart's original search for Margalo. The wind had gotten cold, and every time it passed by Stuarts short, pointy ears; it felt like an icy cold hand slapping him in the face. The sun was gone, the flowers wilted, and Stuart felt as gloomy as he had when Margalo had just left; possibly worse. The cold, biting, white surrounding was of no comfort to Stuart, with his worn clothing, filled with holes. He almost wanted to give up, but he couldn't. Stuart loved Margalo too much to do such a thing. It was late and Stuart decided to take a rest. He untied his small blanket, wrapped around his most important belongings and tied to a little twig, covered his shivering body, and placed his belongings in his now worn-out car. He looked to the starry night sky above him and thought, " Margalo is here, I can feel it, and I will not give up till I find her, never." He made a quiet yawn, and ever so quickly, fell into a deep sleep.

The next morning, Stuart woke with a start. He had heard the most beautiful sound, and sure enough, it was Margalo. But Margalo had not even seen him. She was cuddling her mate and lovingly looking into the eyes of her little chicks. Never in his life had Stuart seen anything more lovely. It was then Stuart realized that Margalo loved her family so much that he could not take her back and began to realize how wonderful his own family was. He had to let her go. So Stuart picked up his blanket walked to his shabby car and whispered under his breath, "I love you, Margalo." Stuart drove his car VERY fast; it was a way for him to vent his utter despair. He drove with such speed, in fact, that he got home in a matter of 2 weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Little welcomed him with open arms; and Mrs. Little dressed her little son in warm, comforting clothes, and treated him to a feast of cheese, Stuart's favorite food. The only family member who wasn't happy with Stuart's arrival was Snowball. She had enjoyed being the center of attention while Stuart was gone, and didn't want anyone taking her attention away, not anyone! She glared in Stuart's direction. But Stuart wasn't exactly happy either. He loved his family, but he also missed Margalo.

That night, as Stuart was tucked in, he decided that he should be happy. By watching Margalo, Stuart saw how happy she was, and decided that, if he truly loved her, and she was happy, he should be happy too. And as he went to sleep he was happy..... A smile swept accross his face and a mysterious warmth through his heart.
